Avelo is again expanding its network with three new nonstop routes and two new destinations.

The new airports joining Avelo’s route map are Alabama’s Mobile International Airport (BFM) and South Carolina’s Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP). The ultra-low-cost startup announced Thursday that it will fly from each of those airports to Orlando International Airport (MCO). Avelo will also fly from GSP to Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) in Connecticut.

Flights from BFM to MCO begin May 31 and operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays. Avelo’s expansion to Mobile is an interesting one.

Currently, the Alabama airport has no commercial air service. Frontier Airlines was the last carrier to serve the airport, and it previously operated flights to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Denver International Airport (DEN).

With Avelo’s arrival, the Houston-based carrier will be the only carrier flying from the airport. BFM is located closer to downtown Mobile than the metro area’s primary airport, Mobile Regional Airport (MOB), which is served by the regional affiliates of American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. For now, BFM is primarily used for general aviation and military operations, and it’s near Airbus’ U.S. assembly line. The Mobile Airport Authority, which runs both airports, has said it intends to eventually shift all regularly scheduled commercial service to BFM.

Avelo’s new flights from BFM to MCO start at a low $29 one-way.

Avelo plans to start twice-weekly flights between GSP and MCO on June 7. Flights from GSP to MCO will be available on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but the carrier said it will transition to flying on Mondays and Wednesdays starting June 23.

Besides Orlando, Avelo will also fly from GSP to its base in New Haven, Connecticut, with twice-weekly service starting June 22. Flights between GSP and HVN will run on Thursdays and Sundays.

Avelo will become the seventh carrier to fly from GSP, joining Allegiant Air, American, Delta, United, Silver Airways and Southwest Airlines.

Andrew Levy, the CEO of Avelo, lauded the addition of the three new routes.

“We are excited to introduce South Carolina’s Upcountry and Mobile, Alabama to Avelo’s low fares, industry-leading reliability, and caring service,” he said in a statement.
