How do you make a fantasy map? I am having trouble. – January 23, 2023 at 05:09PM

I looked at pictures of fantasy maps and it seems that they normally show a continent that is either the size of Australia with countries the size of New South Wales, or the size of Pangaea with countries the size of Russia. I tried to make a global map a couple times but I didn’t like the way it was coming out. I lot of times I end up making a map with five continents that look too much like North and South America, Eurasia, Africa, and Australia. If the world map looks completely different, then I end up having trouble putting in all the different types of people and fantasy races. I want to have humans with different cultures similar to the different European cultures in one area in a way that can make sense. I also want to have fairies, elves, and other European creatures in the same area with their own kingdoms. If the map doesn’t look like Europe, then I have problems trying to make a land like Asia and another one like Africa, without the map looking like Eurasia and Africa. I have also been looking at plate tectonics to see how it shapes the land. I don’t want the land to have been shaped by gods.
