The main objective was to create a challenging 3D model that utilizes the process of 3D printing and laser cutting. Our aim was to create an organic coffee table that could be molded. We want to use 3D printing to understand the form and also to prepare molds.
This is a scale 1:2 prototype made by 3D printing and laser cutting technique, to understand the form and structure performance of the conceptual table.
The Swan is a sculptural coffee table, made using sustainable materials i.e., cork and frosted glass. The table was designed to create a contrast between an organic form and a flat, geometric form. What also makes it unique is the clashing materiality of the level of translucency.
Production:
To produce the cork part of the table, we propose to use the CNC technique with a 3 or more axes machine.
